Interviews: What Questions to Ask?

During an interview, you may be asked, "Do you have any questions for us?" Be aware that the questions you ask as a candidate can make or break whether you move forward in the hiring process. In fact, it is the most underrated section of the interview. Fortunately, it's something you can prepare for ahead of time.

I recommend doing your research to see if some of these questions might be answered first through the school's website and literature.
Always try tailoring them for the school you're interviewing with and their particular situation. Also, keep in mind who you are asking: will they be able to easily answer? You want to avoid any "Gotcha!" questions.
This is also not the time to get bogged down into details of teaching schedule, benefits, living accomodations, etc. You're still trying to determine if this school is the right fit for you and vice versa.
Here are some sample questions you can adapt:
How would you describe your school culture and values?
How do you structure Professional Growth at your school?
What are the top qualities your school is looking for right now? (since this answer can change over time)
Where is your school in their AI journey?
What were your school's strengths and areas for improvement in your most recent accreditation or IB authorization plan?
What kind of support does your school offer to teachers?
How does your school distribute leadership?
What does the turnover of teachers and school leaders look like at your school?
How will I know six months into my first year that I'm successful at your school?
What should I know about the school that isn't on your website?
What do you enjoy most about working at your school?
Do you wish you weren't alone in your job search, having someone through your highs and lows, supporting you the whole way?
